Issue
Unused useful matter sewage treatment plant
Sewagewater contains many nutrients that are not or not optimally used.
Waste water consists phosphate, which is a raw material for several applications. For example, phosphate can be used as a fertilizer for agriculture. Besides that, phosphate can accumulate at inconvenient spots in the waste water treatment plant.
Solution
Airprex technology
The Airprex technology is a process to recover phosphate in the form of struvite. The struvite installation is capable to produce 2.500 kilogram per day maximum. This causes a cost reduction of €400.000 per year.

Pros
- The recovery of phosphate is a positive influence to the environment because less phosphate ore has to be produced. Phosphate is a finite raw material and essential for food production.
- By recovering struvite it can not accumulate at inconvenient spots in the waste water treatment plant which causes a reduction in operational costs.
Characteristics
- Topic Water chain
- Development state 10: Proven in operational situation
- Setting type Urban area
- Water type Waste water, Effluent
- Project period 1-3 years
