Unstable peat dike

Flood hazard

An increased flood hazard because the flood defence does not meet the requirements and/or due to extreme conditions.

Because of a thick layer of asphalt that is put on top of the Jisperdike, the dike no longer meets the norms for stability. There is limited space available for its reinforcement.


VBK-2 Jisperdike

The quay improvement of the Jisperdike combines the following three techniques: soil reinforcement of the ditch at the foot of the dike, the placing of a carbon fiber seepage screen and the placing of a new road construction. This combination of techniques allows for the dike to be reinforced within its current profile, producing less nuisance for the direct environment while creating more height.
