Micro contaminants in waste water

Inefficient operation waste water treatment plant

The operations of the WWTP can be more efficient.

There are more and more contaminants in the waste water, such as medicines that need to be filtered out. Sludge is a well-known and widely used means that only filters a part of drug residues, leaving many residues of medicines in the effluent.

Membrane Bioreactors

Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) removes suspended matter from the sludge by collecting it in membranes. This technique can be applied within wastewater treatment plants and ensures that medicines are filtered out of the water.

  • Removal is no longer dependent on the settling time.
  • Possibility to promote the breakdown of medicine residues by extending the residence time of the sludge in the MBR.
  • Possibility to convert existing active sludge purification systems into Membrane Bioreactors
