There is a lack of space in densely populated delta regions such as Rotterdam. Areas outside the dikes could be used for new constructions, however this is not yet possible due to the risks of floods.
Solution
Floating Pavilion
The floating pavilion, located in Rotterdam, is a floating construction consisting out of three half-spheres. The aim of the pavilion is to increase the awareness about the possibilities of floating constructions. This building technique enables building in undiked areas and reduces the flood risk for buildings.
