Waterproblems find their solutions

Limited access to water and sanitary facilities after disaster or during emergency situations
Issue
Water shortage
There is a lack of adequate quantities of water of a sufficient quality.
There is a worldwide shortage of clean and safe water and sanitary facilities. After a disaster or during emergency situations, the demand for water, food and sanitary facilities is high, and there is an increased risk of the spreading of diseases.
Solution
SEMiLLA Sanitation Hubs
The SEMiLLA is an independently functioning sanitation hub that contains provisions like sanitary facilities, means for production of potable water and (waste)water treatment, and opportunities for the production of food. The wastewater (yellow, grey and black) is turned into potable water, water for irrigation, nutrients and compost inside the hub. The SEMiLLA is placed in locations where the demand of potable water and sanitary facilities is high. The hub improves the hygiene in an area, which reduces the possibility of diseases spreading.
