Inefficient operation waste water treatment plant

The operations of the WWTP can be more efficient.

At many sewage treatment plants in the Netherlands, sewage sludge is fermented to produce biogas. With current technologies only about half of the sludge is converted into biogas. There is a need for new technologies to increase this percentage.

Verena Setup

The Verena setup is an installation in which the sewage sludge can be processed, tested and examined. In the setup, wet biomass is supercritically gasified in order to recover biogas from the sewage sludge as efficiently as possible. The solution can be applied to WWTPs and thus increases the recovery efficiency of biogas.
