Inefficient sludge processing

Inefficient operation waste water treatment plant

The operations of the WWTP can be more efficient.

At many sewage treatment plants in the Netherlands, sewage sludge is fermented to produce biogas. With current technologies only 50% of the sludge is converted into biogas. There is a need for new technologies to increase this percentage.

Yellowgasmachine is an installation in which biomass (including sewage sludge) is converted into bio-energy via supercritical gasification. With this method of sludge processing a significantly higher yield can be achieved than with conventional processing methods. In addition to the production of biogas, valuable minerals are recovered from the biomass.

  • Cost reduction in processing costs of sewage sludge (and other biomass).
  • There is no remaining organic residue that needs to be processed elsewhere.
