Waterproblems find their solutions
The potential of the area is not fully utilized
The area is not optimally managed, used or spatially arranged.
The boundary between land and mudflat is too hard. Because of this, it is hard for plants and animals to attach themselves to the dike. Also, the dike between Eemshaven and Delfzijl does not meet the safety norms.
The Tidal Pools are part of the project 'The Rich Dike'. Tidal Pools are excavated basins or concrete containers that are placed at the foot of the dike. During high tide these tidal pools will flood, and during low tide these pools will surface. Because of their shape the pools will retain water, which makes it possible for different organisms to live in them.
